The 1993 Jadavpur University Department of English production of Macbeth referred to the Gulf War, which was raging at the time. The Weird sisters were represented as lady journalists.

The production was directed by Prof. Mihir Ranjan Bhattacharya, formerly of the Department of English and Department of Film Studies, Jadavpur University. The cast included Sudeshna Banerjee, Rochona Dubey, and Diya Kar as the three witches/reporters.
